The Legacy Society
The Legacy Society at United Way of Benton and Franklin Counties is comprised of individuals who demonstrate extraordinary forethought and generosity to ensure the continuation of support for the health and well-being of Benton and Franklin Counties. Through outright gifts to the United Way Endowment Fund, or through deferred gift commitments to United Way’s Endowment Fund, Legacy Society members plant seeds of kindness that will improve lives for generations to come.

How will my gift make a difference?
The United Way facilitates the Community Solutions process that engages the community in identifying local human care problems, creates solutions and leverages resources to bring about sustained change in conditions that improves people’s lives. Your contribution can be invested in four human care needs:
-
Education - Helping children and adults succeed
Health - Helping people live healthy lives
Safety - Helping people to be safe in their everyday lives
Self-Sufficiency - Helping people have access to basic needs
We support programs and services that give children a safe environment and help prepare them for school. We support after school activities, leadership development, and other programs that help youth stay safe and on track for high-school graduation.
We fund programs that provide people with education about living healthy lives, decrease the number of people treated for preventable diseases, and increase the number of people who receive quality, affordable, and timely healthcare.
We fund programs that provide prevention and relief from abusive or violent situations. People will be safe in their homes, schools and neighborhoods, and live in a community free of abuse, neglect, violence, and crime.
We fund programs that preserve individual independence and maintain a quality of life that is meaningful, enriched, and dignified. People will have access to basic needs such as food and housing, and individuals who are able to work are self-sufficient through gainful employment with livable wages and other assets.
When you support United Way year after year, you play a critical role in addressing the complex and changing needs in our community. You invest in programs that create measurable impact and help people and our community thrive. You will also be invited to seminars throughout the year on topics related to legacy gifts and be provided with updates regarding our role in the community.
In addition to supporting United Way’s Community Solutions work, the Legacy Society gifts may qualify for federal and state charitable tax deductions. Consult your personal financial or tax advisor to determine what benefits you may be eligible to enjoy.
