What is the United Way’s Young Leaders Society?
The Young Leaders Society (YLS) promotes and encourages philanthropy and volunteerism among young individuals in Benton and Franklin Counties.
What makes a Young Leader?
A Young Leader is an individual who is committed and compassionate about providing access to resources and improving lives in our community. Young Leaders generate positive change in our community by promoting the value of volunteerism and philanthropy and by leading and participating in United Way events. YLS members gain a better understanding of needs in our area and take action to address those needs through giving, advocating and/or volunteering.

Member Volunteer Projects
YLS is an integral part of United Way of Benton & Franklin Counties. This unique and dynamic group offers members opportunities to personally contribute towards the goal of improving lives by supporting our Community Solutions work through volunteerism. Together with organizations funded by United Way, YLS identifies quarterly volunteer projects that align with United Way’s four focus areas and support United Way initiatives such as Attendance Matters. Our goal is that everyone in Benton and Franklin Counties has a good education; access to healthcare: lives and works in safe environment; and is a self-sufficient, active member of our community.
YLS members understand the importance of investing in their community as a way of promoting sustainability and improving lives. YLS fosters that understanding by providing educational opportunities designed to inform members about health and human service issues. YLS members interact with local leaders and participate in discussions relating to those issues that matter the most to our community.
Members also participate in a variety of social and business-related events and take part in valuable networking opportunities.
